I began using a Brownie camera at about ten when I
realized that if I took the family pictures I didn’t have to be in them. A
little later I was given a trip abroad and was given a 35mm Nikormat and
slowly learned to play with the dials. It was fun. The camera got put
aside as I married and then came out again to take pictures of my new family
about six times a year. After the kids went off to college I took a basic
black and white photography course at VCU and turned the downstairs powder
room into a dark room, but loving color I jumped into the digital world
where I am trying to keep my brain cells alive by getting frustrated and
delighted with the computer. I have taken some photo tours and some
workshops. Now I am trying to broaden the range of styles from
photojournalism to fine art to some foggy, misty, fuzzy-wuzzys.
