Charles first became interested in photography in 1971, while stationed on a destroyer in the US Navy. Buying his first SLR, a Minolta SRT-101, he photographed many of the twenty-three countries he visited. After leaving the Navy in 1974, Charles married and soon started a family. Photography interest revolved around taking family snapshots and videos. In 1999, looking for a way that he could combine his interest in computers, photography, and ministry, he established the web site godsword4u.com. On this site Charles takes his nature photographs and puts Bible verses on them and creates wallpaper for Windows computers. Wanting to improve his photography, and finding a brochure at Maymont Park for Bill and Linda Lane Photography Workshops, he enrolled in a weekend workshop. It's through this workshop that Charles learned of the Focus Group Camera Club. He continues to photograph often and his web site has thousands of photographs downloaded every month, all at no charge.
