I first became interested in photography when I was in my
early twenties. I only had a 35mm point and shoot camera, but I quickly
realized I needed a camera that allowed me more control so I bought a Canon
35mm SLR and a few lenses. Photography always took a back seat to my work
and school so it wasn’t until I finally graduated college that I was able to
dedicate my time and energy to my photography.
Although many in the photographic world have switched from film to digital
cameras, I still choose film. While digital cameras have their place in the
world, I feel that film allows me to fully express my vision of the world
around me in a way that digital cannot. All of my black and white
photographs are hand printed in a traditional wet darkroom. For my color
photographs, I use slide film which is then scanned and printed on Fuji
Crystal Archive paper.
Most of my photographs are made using medium format cameras, a Mamiya RB67
and a Mamiya M645 Super. For my wildlife photography, I use a Canon EOS 3
35mm camera.
