To become a member of the Focus Group Camera Club you
need to be a serious amateur over the age of twenty-one. You should attend
at least three club meetings. The club meets on the second Tuesday of each
month (except July and August) at 7:30 PM. The meetings are held in the
Discovery Room, at the Science Museum of Virginia, at 2500 W. Broad Street, Richmond Virginia.

After attending the club meetings, meeting the members,
enjoying the programs, and deciding that you'd like to join, you first need
to fill out our membership application. You can download the application
here. It is meant to help the membership
committee get to know you and your photographic interest. Please bring the
completed application to the next club meeting. The membership
committee will review your application. If an opening is available (the club
is limited to 30 members), and your photographic interest fit into our
club's purposes, you will be asked to submit a sample of your photography to
the committee. Prints, digital images on CD, or slides are acceptable. Don't
panic and fret. The club doesn't expect perfection, since we throw away or
delete our share of images, and many people who join show great improvement
in the following years. We will be looking for good photographic techniques,
creativity, and photographic possibility.
After the membership committee approves your application
and photographic samples, the FGCC Board will vote on your membership
application. With their approval, you will be invited to join the club. As a
member, you will be expected to be an active member of our club, which means
attending monthly meetings, paying your annual dues, and participating in
the club's activities and committees. Your membership will begin upon the
payment of club dues, currently $50 per year.
